Rex came to us as a deeply worried boy, carrying a lot of uncertainty about people and handling. He is incredibly wary of being touched, and although he will sometimes come forward and seek contact, those moments are mixed with hesitation. His communication can be conflicted, so we move at a pace that protects his emotional safety.

Rex was surrendered after biting, and this history tells us he has been under significant pressure in the past. Because of this, we take things slowly and respectfully, giving him choice and space at every step.

One of Rex’s biggest worries is being on lead. While we are gently working on this, we make sure his environment allows him to move freely without needing a lead at all. This keeps him comfortable and prevents him from feeling trapped or overwhelmed.

Due to his fear around tactile contact and the level of support he needs to feel safe, Rex will remain with us as a permanent resident. Here, he has predictable routines, handlers who understand his communication, and an environment designed around his wellbeing.
