Floss came to us with a sad and difficult history and was, realistically, drinking in the last‑chance saloon. Our initial aim was to stabilise her health and then place her in a foster home while we looked for a permanent placement.

However, some of Flossy’s behaviours are concerning, so we feel it would be irresponsible to place her in a home environment. For now, her welfare is best served by continuing to work with her within our care.

Floss was first taken to the vet because she was clearly in pain and severely undernourished despite huge amounts of food — her movement and posture make this obvious. We hoped that improved nutrition would help her gain weight, but this didn’t happen as expected. She has since returned to the vet for more thorough investigations and blood work. She is now slowly gaining weight, which gives us the opportunity to shift more focus onto her behavioural and support plan.
