Tia
Tia’s early life was unstable. Sold through a newspaper advert at just a year old, she panicked during her move to a new home, escaped from the car, and was missing for eight days. She survived alone, living rough, while Welfare volunteers searched daily until she was finally secured — frightened, exhausted, and traumatised.
With steady, predictable support she blossomed into one of the most affectionate German Shepherds we have. Gradual exposure to new stimuli helped her rebuild confidence, and she became a dog who actively sought connection and reassurance.
Over time we noticed changes in her movement and behaviour. She began barking and lunging on walks, her gait shortened, and she started bunny‑hopping when trotting. X‑rays ruled out hip dysplasia, but revealed a far more serious issue:
Tia has degenerative ventral spinal spondylitis, and her spine is riddled with arthritis.
This degenerative condition affects her comfort, mobility, and posture. It cannot be reversed and there is sadly no cure. She is supported with:

Because of her spinal disease and the level of monitoring she needs, Tia will not be rehomed. She now lives as a permanent resident in a foster kennel where her pain levels and mobility can be observed daily. This allows us to adjust her care quickly and keep her as comfortable as possible.
